CPC20112 - Certificate II in Construction

This course provides an occupational outcome with a range of support tasks applicable to a number of construction work sites.  

Jobs may include:

  • Trades assistant
  • Builder's labourer
  • Construction assistant.

Training is delivered over a period of 12 weeks part-time (Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm). ATEC also provides students with complimentary White Card training to facilitate work experience and/or job opportunities (CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry).


Skills Covered
In order to complete this qualification students must successfully achieve a total of 15 units of competency, 10 core units in the table below and 5 elective units of competency.

CPCCCM2006B - Apply basic levelling procedures

CPCCCM2010B - Work safely at heights

CPCCCO2013A - Carry out concreting to simple forms

CPCCOHS2001A - Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry


CPCCCM2002A - Carry out excavation

CPCCCM2007B - Use explosive power tools

CPCCCM2008B - Erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding

CPCCCM2009A - Carry out basic demolition

CPCCSF2004A - Place and fix reinforcement materials

Course Admission Requirements / pre-requisites

Applicants will be required to attend an interview and undertake pre-assessment to ensure suitability for the course which may include drug and alcohol testing. You must be at least 16 years of age and have a command of the English language to enable fluent communication (written and oral). You must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (see PPE below).

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to be supplied by participant

  • Safety boots (steel cap)
  • Safety glasses (non-tinted)
  • Long pants
  • Long-sleeved shirt (for WHS reasons please do not wear excessively loose clothing)
  • High visibility vest
  • Sun protection as required

Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course will be issued with a Record of Results and a Certificate II in Construction (CPC20112).
Students who do not complete all the units of competency within this course will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units of competency that have been successfully achieved.

Course Fees for Students Ineligible for WorkReady Subsidies

The full course fee is $4,125.  A deposit of 20% ($825) is required at enrolment.  Direct Debit arrangements are available.
