Elevated Work Platform (Yellow Card) $390


The EWPA ‘Yellow Card’ is a nationally recognised industry training program mapped to the unit of competency RIIHAN301D Operate elevating work platform, developed by the EWPA in consultation with members and industry. The intention of this course is to assist operators, employers, equipment owners and manufacturers to comply with the WHS regulation.

The ‘Yellow Card’ provides evidence that the operators of specific types of EWPs have been trained in the safe use of that type of work platform. The training meets and exceeds the unit of competency RIIHAN301D Operate elevating work platform.

The participant, their employer and the training organisation all have documentary evidence of the training received which can be verified on the EWPA website.

Course Duration

1-day course (8.00am to 4.30pm)

Course Content

This training program is designed for people who wish to or are required to develop the skills and knowledge needed to operate elevated work platforms. Participants may complete singular or multiple machine classes according to the type of work they will be undertaking.  Machine classes available with ATEC are: Scissor Lift (SL) and Self Propelled Boom (BL).  The course content includes:

  • Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform
  • Conduct work activities from elevating work platform
  • Carry out operator maintenance
  • Clean up

Course Pre-requisites

There are no mandated pre-requisites for entry into this course however there are restrictions for participants under the age of 18.

The minimum age to obtain a Yellow Card is 14 years & 9 months (subject to each state regulatory body).

If you are under 18 years of age will have a Restricted Yellow Card issued, marked with an ‘R’. The restriction will only allow you to operate an EWP under direct supervision of an Unrestricted (over 18) Yellow Card holder of the same EWP class.

When you turn 18 years of age and have held your Restricted Yellow Card for more than 1 year from the date of training, you will require refresher training before the EWPA will issue you with an Unrestricted Yellow Card.

If you turn 18 within 1 year of obtaining the Restricted Yellow Card you will automatically be issued with an unrestricted Yellow Card. If your postal address details change within this time you will need to contact the EWPA prior to turning 18.

Successful Completion

Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for:

  • RIIHAN301D - Operate elevated work platform
  • Yellow Card NB: This card is issued by EWPA not by ATEC

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to be supplied by participant

  • Safety boots and safety / sun glasses
  • Appropriate clothing
  • Sun protection as required
