MEM05012C - Perform routine manual metal arc welding (from $390 to $420 p/p)

Overview
With industry machines now being portable, ARC welding is one of the most common types of welds used today.  Employment outcomes may include: Gates and fencing, trailer manufacturing, construction industry, earthmoving equipment, maintenance and manufacturing and the defence industry.

Course Delivery
Option 1

Course Duration - 2-day course from 8:00am to 4:30pm each day

Cost
$390 (GST exempt) per person

Option 2
Course Duration - 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm to 8:00pm

Cost
$420 (GST exempt) per person

Course Content
The course applies in a maintenance or manufacturing environment where the welding is not required to meet an Australian standard or equivalent. Fillet and butt welds would typically be performed on low carbon/mild steels. The course covers:

  • Identifying weld requirements
  • Preparing materials for weld
  • Preparing equipment for welding
  • Perform routine welding using MMAW 

 
Course Pre-requisites
Participants must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI). To apply for a USI go to www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi
  • bring photo identification on the day of training
  • have the ability to read and understand basic English and communicate this both written and verbally
  • have basic maths skills
  • wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment see PPE on next page.

Successful Completion
Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for:

  • MEM05012C - Perform routine manual metal arc welding

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to be supplied by participant 

  • Safety boots 
  • Non-tinted safety glasses*
  • Basic welding helmet*
  • Gauntlet gloves*
  • Long pants and a long sleeved shirt (for WHS reasons please do not wear excessively loose clothing)
