Safe Environments for Children and Young People ‘Through their eyes’

Through their eyes’ (Formerly known as Child Safe Environments)

This seven-hour training program has been developed by the South Australian Department for Education in 2018 in line with the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017, and explores child abuse and the legal obligation for mandated notifiers to report suspicion of risk of harm in Children and Young people. 

The program consists of eight sessions:

  • Child Protection in context
  • ‘Through our eyes’: Values and Attitudes
  • Risk and Harm: SA legislation
  • Risk and Harm: abuse related trauma
  • Sexual abuse
  • Through their eyes: disclosure
  • Safe organisations
  • Reporting suspicion of risk and harm

“This live interactive course is delivered online through ZOOM, participation can be from your workplace or from the comfort of your own home”

Although this course is accessible via a smart phone, for optimal viewing we highly recommend using a larger, Zoom capable device i.e. tablet/laptop/computer.

Once your enrolment is completed you will be receive clear instructions how to download the Zoom app and access the course.


Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of this program. This program is suitable for all South Australians not working in an Education setting.
