Health and Safety Representative Level 3

Health and Safety Representatives (HSR's) play a pivotal role in keeping South Australian workplaces safe. By representing workers in their work group, HSR's provide a means for workers to raise safety issues within their workplace and follow a process with employers to resolve them. HSR training provides the representative with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage this process so that issues are resolved successfully, thus reducing and even eliminating costly (both human and financial) workplace injuries.

This level is designed for HSR's in their third year of office and who have completed both Level 1 and Level 2 training. It's also designed to provide re-elected HSR's with the opportunity to attend seminars relevant to them and their workplace. These courses are also open to managers and supervisors.

The Level 3 course covers:
  • WHS Legislation review & update
  • Effective Workplace Communications
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Equal Opportunity
  • Stress & Psychological Injuries
  • Internet for HSR
Training at a Reduced Cost

SafeWork SA provides funding to enable HSR and Committee training at a subsidised rate. The targeted participants are:

Subsidies apply to eligible HSR's attending continuing training (Level 3), but can also apply to supervisors and managers who attend the training with the HSR. This is the only training that can be attended by supervisors / managers that attracts SafeWork SA subsidies.

  • Subsidies do not apply if your organisation is Self-Insured / Exempt employer (including Government departments).

Note: effective from 1 July 2019, subsidies will no longer apply.
