UEE22011 - Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start)

The Certificate II in Electrotechnology is a pre-vocational program aimed at preparing students for an electrotechnology apprenticeship.  You will gain practical experience in a hands-on training environment and learn about electrical theory and wiring, work health and safety, solving problems in electrical circuits and identifying and selecting components.

Training is delivered part-time Monday to Thursday (8am to 4.30pm) over 12 weeks. ATEC also provides students with complimentary White Card training to facilitate work experience and/or job opportunities (CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry).

Skills Covered
All the competencies below must be successfully completed to achieve a total weighting of 140 points. 





Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace


Solve problems in d.c. circuits


Use of routine equipment/plant/technologies in an energy sector environment


Carry out routine work activities in an energy sector environment


Identify and select components, accessories and materials for energy sector work activities 


Apply environmentally and sustainable procedures in the energy sector

Plus the following ELECTIVES listed below




Use computer applications relevant to a workplace


Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components 


Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment


Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications 


Attach cords and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to a single phase 230 Volt supply


Course Admission Requirements / pre-requisites
Applicants will be required to attend an interview and undertake pre-assessment to ensure suitability for the course which may include drug and alcohol testing.

Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course will be issued with a Record of Results and a Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) (UEE22011).
Students who do not complete all the units of competency within this course will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units of competency that have been successfully achieved.

Course Fees and Subsidies
The full course fee is $4,125.  A deposit of 20% ($825) is required at enrolment.  
Direct Debit arrangements are available.

Subsidy may be available for eligible students. Contact ATEC for further information.

Other Costs
All participants are required to supply their own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) i.e. safety boots (steel cap), safety glasses (non-tinted), long pants and long-sleeved shirt (for WHS reasons please do not wear excessively loose clothing).
