UEE30811 - Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician

This course provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in building and premises. It includes ERAC requirements for an 'Electrician's license'.
This course is designed for Australian apprentices employed under a Training Contract. Training is delivered and assessed over the term of the Training Contract (usually 4 years).
You will be assigned an ATEC Case Manager who will work with you and your employer to develop a Training Plan that suits the needs of you and your employer.
Skills Covered
In order to complete this qualification students must successfully achieve the 20 core units of competency in the table below and a number of electives (the number of elective units in this qualification may vary depending upon those chosen but will need to be sufficient to make up 140 points).




Participate in electrical work and competency development activities


Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace


Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components


Solve problems in d.c. circuits


Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment


Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications


Document and apply measures to control OHS risks associated with electrotechnology work


Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage machines


Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits


Arrange circuits, control and protection for general electrical installations


Solve problems in electromagnetic devices and related circuits


Solve problems in low voltage a.c. circuits


Install low voltage wiring and accessories


Install appliances, switchgear and associated accessories for low voltage electrical installations


Verify compliance and functionality of low voltage general electrical installations


Terminate cables, cords and accessories for low voltage circuits


Select wiring systems and cables for low voltage general electrical installations


Trouble-shoot and repair faults in low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits


Develop and connect electrical control circuits


Apply environmentally and sustainable procedures in the energy sector

Course Admission Requirements / pre-requisites
There are no mandated pre-requisites for this course however; students must be signed under a Training Contract with their employer to be eligible.

Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course will be issued with a Record of Results and a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30811). Students who do not complete all the units of competency within this course will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units of competency that have been successfully achieved.
